Drug, alcohol charity opens Saturdays

18/05/2016 @ 07:46

Drug and alcohol support charity Kaleidoscope will be opening its doors on Saturdays from June as part of a new pilot programme.

The scheme is aimed at providing access for people in work who can’t get to Kaleidoscope services during the week.

Powys regional manager Barry Eveleigh, explained: “Although we try to be as flexible as possible with our opening times, we realise that there are some people who can’t make it into our offices during the evening. People have things to do after work such as preparing meals or spending time with their children. We want to make our services as accessible as possible.”

The Saturday service is a pilot scheme, running for 12 weeks, to see if there is a demand for opening at the weekend. Initially it will be a limited service offering responses to telephone enquiries and referrals. The service will be open from 10-12pm Saturdays.

“We can look at why there aren’t more working people accessing our services, but the best way to try and improve a situation is to do something about it and that’s why we are opening our doors at weekends.”

Anyone who wants information or help about their own or someone else’s drug or alcohol use can call Kaleidoscope on 01686 207111 or call at the following offices which are open Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.
