The forecast rain for the evening held off until the last riders were home for Hafren Cycling Club’s Newtown TT.
With decent race conditions, Ian Coe set the pace with a blistering 30:02 minutes in his first ride in the series, with Ian Nisbett picking up second again in 30:38. Chris Roberts was just four seconds behind for third with 30.42.
In the Women’s race Rebecca Richardson’s 31:34 gave her first, and sixth overall on the night. Emma Serjeant (37:58) and Sahrah Wilding (40:40) rounded out the podium, with Kat Holwill chasing the third place hard with an impressive 41:02 in her first ride of the series.
Meanwhile, Hafren CC juniors put in another strong performance at the Sundorne Sports Village, Shrewsbury over the weekend.
Jess Bufton took silver in U8 girls race, coming back well from a week of illness. This was followed up by another great ride from George Joyce in U10 boys, another step-up in performance and a huge effort as always to take fifth overall.
Max Bufton won the bunch spring to take silver in U10 boys race. Meanwhile in U12, Fred Meredith put in a mature and gutsy performance, staying with the lead group for a majority of race to finish fifth out of a strong field.
