£300k in Welshpool coffers

Welshpool Town Council will hold its annual general meeting tonight (Wednesday), and a quick look at the agenda shows one item jump off the page.

The Town Council is sitting on a healthy collective bank balance of nearly £300,000, not bad considering the additional services that the town has taken on over the past three years.

But don’t expect a spending bonanza any time soon.

“The amount is higher than normal at this time of year,” said Town Clerk, Robert Robinson. “However we now have the Day Centre to add to the outgoings so although it looks healthy it is not something that will be usual in the future.”

A number of issues will be discussed during the meeting including the town’s plan for tackling anti-social behavior as well as electing the new Mayor.

The meeting will take place in the Town Hall’s council chamber from 7pm.
