Over £5 million of capital investment has been approved by the county council’s cabinet for highways and transport works in Powys.
The decision means essential upgrading over the next 12 months for some of our roads that are facing increasing wear and tear from increasing traffic.
Councillor John Brunt, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “This capital investment is good news for our highways and transport network. This capital investment will be targeted and prioritised to maximise its effectiveness.
“Given the continued revenue budget pressures, there are still significant challenges in maintaining the highway network. A further investment in energy efficient LED technology of £0.776m in our street lighting will see future savings in energy costs.
“We are also delighted to have secured £0.77m of additional funding from Welsh Government and further grant bids will also be submitted for further works.”
