Hair today, gone on Sunday!

The time is up and it’s coming off!

One of Welshpool’s most colourful fund raisers in recent memory will be reaching its hair raising climax on Sunday.

Vince Roberts (pictured), normally recognised for his shaved head for longer than he cares to remember, has been growing his hair for the past year but it will all be shaved off on Sunday.

He decided to do something in support of two charities that have become close to his heart recently and the town has come out in support, raising £3,800 to date.

And there will be one big last push on Sunday with entertainment and food laid on at the Pheasant for the big shave off from 2pm.

“It’s been fantastic to see the support I have received,” he said. “It has been a bit of fun but on a serious note two charities will be pocketing a lot of money thanks to the generosity of those that have dug deep. Thanks to everyone for your support and I hope to see you Sunday!”

Vince’s hair has gone from one extreme colour to the next during its growth period, but it will be back to normal on Sunday.

He is raising money for two cancer support charities - the Lingen Davies Unit in Shrewsbury and Maggie’s Centre.

Previously Vince told us: “A couple of lads I know are currently battling cancer through the Lingen Davies Unit, and Maggie’s Centre in Dundee (Scotland) helped my wife's sister who sadly passed away, aged just 34. Also they helped her father who passed away two years ago.”
