Newtown got the better of Knockin and Kinnerley in Division One, but couldn’t quite secure the win.
Newtown posted 176-9 with Ally Laird (50) and Tom Goodwin (49) leading the way, but the visitors held out on 152-8 for a share of the spoils.
Meanwhile in Division Two, Welshpool’s bowlers were in dominating form as they secured a comfortable win at Cae Glas. Dale Evans (40) and Matt Knight (48) guided Welshpool to 165-9 before Tom Anderson (5-26) ripped through the reply which finished on 81.
Montgomery slipped up at Prees, despite Aaron Ruff-Cock (41) helping them through to 165-9. But Prees’s top order was in form and cruised home for the loss of three wickets in the 37th over.
It was a long day on the field for Guilsfield who were put to the sword by Bridgnorth III in Division Four. Chasing a whopping 260-6, the villagers fell short on 123 all out.
In the reserve divisions, there was a comfortable win for Montgomery II in Division Two while Newtown II posted 289-3 for Welshpool’s second string to chase thanks largely to a monster 139 not out from Ian Hancocks. Welshpool held out on 100-5 to deny their neighbours an outright victory.
