Greenfingers lands council contract

A company that has relocated from Cheshire to Powys has landed the contract to cut the county’s grass.

And, according to Powys County Council, Greenfingers Landscapes Limited will be looking to recruit up to 12 local people having already signed up seven new employees.

The grounds maintenance contract covers grass cutting and associated works, cemetery works (grave digging and grass cutting) and urban road verge cutting in Powys and was granted following a recent tender process.

A Powys insider tells us that nine companies submitted a tender response for the work, six of which were based in the county, including Greenfingers Landscapes which has shifted from Crewe to Rhayader.

Cllr John Brunt, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “Greenfingers Landscapes Ltd originally started trading in the north of England with the head office in Crewe until six years ago. The head office is now located in the Elan Valley. However, the Crewe address is still used as the registered office. A depot has recently been opened at Nantmel, near Llandrindod Wells as well as the Oswestry depot expanding.

“Due to the obvious seasonal nature of grass cutting operations we have for a number of years relied on third party contractors to complement the capacity of our workforce. This latest contract will provide for improved contractor management and is also more cost effective.”

Greenfingers Landscapes Limited is a specialist grounds maintenance organisation that already provides a full array of grounds maintenance operations across Northern England.
