Wind turbine convoys to the Tirgwynt wind farm will start next week and run until September, Powys County Council has been told.

The convoys will start from Monday with five/six convoys running per week to the Tirgwynt wind farm site near Cefn Coch until mid-September.

A trial run was undertaken on June 30 to assess the likely impacts of moving turbine components from the port of entry on the east coast to the wind farm site.

The convoy encountered minor constraints along the route and these have now been addressed and a targeted second trial run was undertaken on July 15.

Management of the turbine convoys will be the responsibility of the Dyfed Powys Police force. It is anticipated that the day to day operation of the convoys may alter the timings of movements as decisions are made to react to unforeseen events.

The developer has undertaken advanced localised works along the network to provide opportunities to minimise any potential disruption. Some traffic islands in Welshpool have been replaced by bollards.

Powys County Council have been informed that whilst delays along the trunk road network may be encountered these are likely to be short-lived and will kept to an absolute minimum.
