A strong field supported the Welshpool Golf Club Captain, John Morley, on his away day to Mold Golf Club when Sammy Marck (18) excelled to win comfortably with 45 points.

The only downside was he played with the chairman of the handicap committee, Bob Aldridge, who took a personal interest in overseeing fair play by adjusting Sammy's handicap by three shots to 15!

Second was Mark Fletcher (5) who scored 23 points on the back 9, and in third place was Peter Sharman (24) who scored 19 points on the back 9.

On Saturday, normal service was resumed at The Golfa with Berwyn Evans (28) scoring well to win on count-back with 42 points.  Gareth Ashley (18) came second also with 42 points and in third was Dwain Evans (9) with 41.
On Sunday, calmer weather greeted a reduced field. Steve Trow (12) won the stableford competition with 40 points.  Alun Evans (14) was second with 38 and Mark Roberts (18) was third on count-back with 37 points
The week saw Welshpool seniors competing for the Trevor Horgan stroke play competition over two rounds. Bobbie Aldridge (8) won the first round with a net score of 71. Phil Constable (15) was second also with 71 and Keith Roberts (19) was third with 72. The second round was won by Phil Constable (15) with a net score of 70, Alun Evans was second with 73 and Stan Rawlings (23) was third with 74 . The overall winner was Phil Constable  (15) with a score of 142, Stan Rawlings (23) was second with 146 and Bobbie Aldridge (8) was third with 150.
Finally, congratulations are also due to Mark Fletcher (5) and Jonathan Gamble (6) who won with 45 points the latest round of the Mid Wales Golf Association 4 ball better ball stableford matches at Borth & Ynlas on Sunday last.
