Men who vandalised the football stand at Maesydre Recreation Ground spraying swastikas, the word ISIS and an offensive term about Pakistani people, have appeared in Welshpool Magistrates Court.
Jordan Beeson, of Bronybuckley, Welshpool, and James Karl Mechash Harris, of Wild Wood Court, Welshpool, pleaded guilty to a charge of racially and religiously aggravated criminal damage.
Scott Connolly, 19, of Huyton, Knowsley, admitted theft of a spray can from Poundland in Welshpool, in relation to the criminal damage incident.
Officers found graffiti to the back wall, which included multiple drawings of a penis, the words “ISIS kill”, an offensive term for Pakistani people and the letters KKK, referring to the Klu Klux Klan.
Swastikas were also drawn on a town council notice board and on the road near the football ground.
Beeson, 18, admitted “drawing a stick man with a penis” and also ISIS and KKK, with Harris also admitting graffiti and writing an offensive word about Pakistani people, saying he wanted people of “that culture to see it,” before admitting he had been an “idiot”.
Connolly was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £85 costs, with Harris receiving a two year conditional discharge, £15 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
Beeson was handed a 12 month community order for the offence and ordered to complete 40 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
