The village of Leighton is busy preparing for the Village Show on Saturday, September 10 and this year, in order to celebrate the Queens 90th Birthday, there will be a strong 'Right Royal' theme throughout the show.
The signs are up, the grass will be mown, marquees will be erected, cups and tractors polished, cakes baked and corgi's coats knitted along with many other show entries prepared with such care.
The day includes a Fell & Fun Run and the very popular Fun Dog Show. Panic Puppets will be on hand to entertain the children and all this is set in a beautiful rural landscape.
Along with all the produce and craft entries, Fancy Dress, Children's Sports being run by Leighton School, Vintage vehicles, Bowling, Lazer Shooting, Tug of War, and bouncy castles there will be a chance to show off traditional country skills with tractor reversing, a Grand Draw, a full bar, bale tossing and much more besides.
The popular vintage tea tent will keep everyone happy throughout the afternoon with a variety of stalls to peruse. The vast car park is on the flat fields alongside and allows for easy access throughout the day.
The celebrations continue through to the evening (prior booking essential) with live entertainment. The support of James & Jean Potter, the Futter family and Leighton Estate Woodlands is much appreciated.
If you are interested in entering any of the classes, having a stall or wish to come along and be part of what is a very popular village show with 'old fashioned country values' all done with a surprisingly modern twist then please contact us for a 'Right Royal' do.
