Waterloo to run two teams

09/08/2016 @ 12:20

Just a week after declaring that things were not looking good at Waterloo Rovers, officials have come out with some positive news.

The club announced last week that it was pulling out of the Spar Mid Wales League due to a player shortage, and it would field just one side instead of the current two in the Montgomeryshire Amateur League.

But today there is some positivity coming from the club.

“Waterloo Rovers will be running two teams this season in the Montgomeryshire Amateur League Divisions One and Two,” said the club’s Dave Proctor. “There will be a Waterloo Rovers in Division One and a Waterloo Rovers Reserves in the second division.

“We had too many players for one team but not enough for two, but over the last week Jeff Spears has worked hard trying to sign players and he now has enough for a reserve team, mainly youngsters with one or two older heads.”

It means the Colts side will be amalgamated into the full set up, but supporters of the club will be happy with the compromise as the club looks to rebuild.
