Weatherman Derek to host awards

The host for the Powys Business Awards ceremony being held on September 30 has been announced as TV’s favourite Welsh weatherman, Derek Brockway (pictured).

The BBC presenter has had a lifetime fascination with the weather and has presented a number of TV shows including 'Derek's Welsh Weather' and 'Weatherman Walking'.

He has added yet another string to his bow with the publication of four books - two walking books published by Aberystwyth-based Y Lolfa and a children's book by Gomer called Duck and Starfish.

A number of companies from the Welshpool area are on the shortlists and in addition to the 12 category awards, a Judges’ Special Award, sponsored by Sodexo, and the overall Powys Business of the Year 2016 Award, sponsored by Powys County Council, will be announced at the awards evening.

The awards celebrate excellence in business in the county and brings recognition in the local and regional business communities.
