Opener Sam Griffiths smashed a century to lead Guilsfield to victory in Shropshire Cricket League Division Four against Bridgnorth III.

Chasing 172-8, Griffiths carried his bat for 110 as the villagers crossed the line in the 28th over with just two wickets lost to keep their title push on track.

Newtown are a point clear at the top of the Division One after a monster target was set at fourth placed Knockin and Kinnerley.

Deciding to bat first, Newtown posted a massive 300-4, with Hamish Harding hitting an unbeaten 98 from 86 balls, and openers Steve Davies (71) and Tom Goodman (48) also in good shape.

The visitors then dominated with the ball, dismissing their hosts for just 115 with Dave Anthony taking 4-38.

In Division Two, runaway leaders Montgomery extended their lead without playing a game after their match against Prees was cancelled by the visitors.

Nevertheless, Welshpool kept their outside hopes of the title alive hosting Cae Glas. Welshpool limited their visitors to just 110-8 from their 40 overs, before Matt Knight (56) led the run chase to victory in the 26th over.

In the reserve divisions, Montgomery II had a winning draw at fellow mid table Division Two side Condover II with Tom Corfield smashing an unbeaten 127 and Ed Tuffin hitting 73 as they posted 260-8. The visitors held out though on 150-7.
