Crews tackle fierce blaze

It looks pretty bad in the picture, and according to those that saw it, it was!

Five fire crews from Welshpool, Llanfair Caereinion, Montgomery and Llanfyllin were called to tackle the blaze on the perimeter of Guilsfield which also resulted in power being cut off to the village for a short time.

Eye witnesses told us that it involved a tractor, trailer and hay that caught fire next to a bungalow.

It could have been a lot worse too if it wasn't for the quick reactions from the local crews.

“Thankfully no one was badly hurt because the fire crews were on the scene very quickly,” said one eyewitness.

“It was contained very quickly once they arrived. They did a brilliant job to stop it spreading to the house and nearby cars.”

The fire service has not said how the blaze may have started.
