Join the fish and chips train

23/08/2016 @ 08:02

Anyone wishing to join the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway’s popular evening Fish & Chip Special train on Saturday needs to act fast as the booking deadlne is fast approaching.

The second special has been organised following the success of the initial sold-out event in May. The train will depart Llanfair Caereinion at 6pm, and on arrival at Welshpool Raven Square fish & chip suppers from the award-winning Andrews Fish Bar of Welshpool will be served for passengers to enjoy during the return trip.

Large and small meals, together with vegetarian options, will be available to travellers and ice cream treats and soft drinks will also be on sale in the station during the halt.

Bookings close tomorrow, Wednesday and details and booking forms can be found on the events page of the railway’s website at www.wllr.org.uk

This week is also the last of the railway’s new-for-2016 high season timetable, which features a diesel-hauled train from Welshpool at 9.45am, 90 minutes earlier than usual, and a 5pm late train, also diesel hauled, back to Welshpool.

This departs Llanfair at 5pm which is 90 minutes later than usual and the extended operation enables visitors to combine a ride on the railway with a visit to another local attraction, such as Powis Castle, on the same day, while also enjoying steam haulage in one direction.
