Welshpool Town's new manager Luke Ogilvie was watching in the crowd as Pool went down 2-0 to title favourites Rhayader last night in the Spar Mid Wales League.
The former Llanymynech manager was introduced to the players after the game and will take charge for Tuesday night's training session, succeeding Terry Ingram.
Chairman Russell Cadwallader said: "We are delighted to welcome Luke to the club. He was extremely impressive during the recruitment process and holds the same vision for the club as the committee.
"We are confident he will build upon the existing solid foundations and galvanise the club as a whole. We look forward to working with him."
Guilsfield trounced Denbigh 5-0 in the Huws Gray Alliance with Adam Jenkins hitting a stunning hat-trick and James Henderson and  Louis Irvine completing the rout, but Llanfair went down 2-0 at home to Porthmadog.
Berriew suffered a surprise 3-0 defeat in the FAW Trophy, losing 3-0 to Llanuwchllyn and Llansantffraid went down 2-1 at home to Llanidloes Town.
