Local brewery is riding high on the seven seas with beer being sold on P&O Cruises’ fleet!

A local brewery is toasting a new deal which is seeing one of their products being sold across the entire P&O Cruises fleet.

Masquerade, Monty’s multi-award winning gluten free beer, was selected to represent Powys on P&O Cruises flagship Britannia when it was launched last year. A year on and the beer is now proudly sailing the world on all of its ships.

Russ Honeyman, sales director for Monty’s, was thrilled about the news.

“A man recently visited The Cottage (Monty’s new Visitor’s Centre in Montgomery) having just returned from a cruise in the Med and had happily found a Monty’s brew and a little piece of Wales on board,” he said.

Masquerade is certified by Coeliac UK and was the first of its kind to be brewed in Wales.

A golden ale with tropical fruits, Masquerade is sure to get P&O Cruises’ tourists in the holiday spirit whether they are gazing at the rolling hills of Wales, the Caribbean Sea or the Northern Lights.

Monty’s Brewery started in 2008 when owners Pam and Russ Honeyman were having a quiet pint over Sunday lunch and said to each other ‘Shall we build a brewery?” before Pam went off to Brewlab at Sunderland University, returning with a plan and a recipe. The rest as they say is history!

It’s been growing from strength to strength since with their brews available countrywide and exported to a host of countries.
