Colleagues from the West Bromwich Building Society  have put their best foot forward in the name of charity – on one of the highest peaks in Shropshire.

Six members of staff from the West Brom’s branches climbed 10 miles to reach The Devil’s Chair on the Stiperstones.

And their hard work paid off as a total of £2,500 was raised for Teenage Cancer Trust, which is the Society’s nominated charity for this year.

Jacqui Garner-Jones, a customer service advisor at the West said: “It was a great effort from the entire team to complete the climb. The camaraderie amongst the group was fantastic and we were all determined to help each other as much as possible.

“I broke my foot six weeks before the walk and that made it very tough for me, but it’s a brilliant cause to help support young people who are going through some very difficult times.

“One of my friends lost her child to cancer and that was a real driving force for me throughout the day.”

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young people with cancer aged between 13 and 24.  It operates three specialist teenage cancer units at hospitals in the West Midlands and an outreach service for local patients and their families.
