Fire crews tackle major blaze

Fire fighters have been tackling a major blaze overnight which could cause traffic delays into Saturday.

An eye witness told us at least five appliances are at the scene as well as a water carrier with the fire raging on Old Hall Farm, Buttington.

It is believed that crews arrived shortly after 4am and that the A458 through the village is now closed from Welshpool.

“It is a huge fire,” said our eye witness. “There is a large number of fire fighters on site. You will see from my picture that it is fierce and it is very close to the main road.

“I am told that it involves a large quantity of bales with the crews trying to stop it spreading.

“Thankfully there are no casualties by the looks,” the eye witness added.
