Fire contained but road remains closed

The ferocious farm fire that has closed the main road through Buttington today has been brought under control by our brave firefighters.

The call was made around 4am after the blaze roared out of control at Old Hall Farm with hundreds of bales catching fire.

The inferno has closed the A458 from Welshpool and sources tell us it will remain closed until later today.

Although contained, the fire is still burning so crews are expected to be on site working through the night and into tomorrow.

Diversions are in place for motorists going to and from Shrewsbury.
