A last call has been made to prevent a vital community group from folding in Guilsfield.

The 1st Guilsfield Scouts desperately needs to recruit a second leader before the end of the year, or unfortunately the troop will have to disband.

Scout leader Owen Willingham started the project of reforming the troop six months ago but hasn’t been able to secure a regular assistant leader.

“We have six scouts at present, but a healthy cub pack in Guilsfield with more due to move up in April,” said Owen. “As Llanfair doesn’t have a Scout Troop, we have also been asked to take some of their cubs as they come of age. It's a real shame we simply haven't been able to find the adult support for them.”

The troop has taken part in a number of activities such as orienteering, caving and camping throughout the summer, with more adventures planned before Christmas. It also has the use of a specialist hut (pictured).

The leader role would require meeting between 6.30-8.30pm every Wednesday during term time, plus additional planning time to ensure a quality and varied programme can be delivered. All training is provided by the Scout Association.

If you can help, or would like more information, please contact Owen on 01938 552998.
