Forden athlete Andy Davies reached new heights in his stunning career when finishing fifth in Friday’s World Championships 50Km run in Doha.
Running as part of a Great Britain squad Davies was the first UK athlete over the finishing line in the International Association of Athletic Federations event in the Qatar heat.
Training in the Kenyan heat worked for the 37-year-old lecturer at Newtown College as he led home the GB athletes with a time of 2.58.25 in a race won by Anthony Migliozzi of the USA in 2.54.02. The team finished second, behind the Americans.
Earlier this year Andy joined Mo Farah in the Team GB cross country team before returning to mountain running. He represented Wales in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and has his sights firmly set on retaining his place for Melbourne in 2018.
He tweeted the picture before starting the event.
