Recycling public meeting

Welshpool will be hosting a public meeting to discuss the potential closure of the town’s recycling site.

Powys County Council is considering cutting the number of sites it finds across the county to save money, but it has caused grave concern for local residents, fearing that closure of the Potters site will increase fly tipping.

“Welshpool Town Council is hosting a meeting next Tuesday (November 22) at 7pm in the Town Hall regarding the possible closure of recycling centres across Montgomeryshire,” said a spokesperson.

“All are invited to attend.”

Residents are angry that earlier cuts to the collection services have already caused headaches. Collection of non-recyclable rubbish now takes place only every three weeks.
