Big win for Cobra

17/11/2016 @ 08:31

Cobra ended a run of three league defeats in emphatic style with a stunning 35-7 victory over Bethesda in North Wales Division One.

Training has been stepped up during the international break and it paid off with the bonus point victory easing their relegation fears.

Two penalties from Llew Williams put the hosts into the lead but the home crowd was silenced when the men from Snowdonia crossed the line and converted for a 6-7 advantage.

But it was short lived as a third Williams penalty put Cobra back in front, a position they never relinquished.

Powerful hooker Steven Isaac crossed for Cobra’s first try before the break and early into the second half Jack Jukes added a second try after strong work from the pack.

Bethesda were reduced to 14 after a high tackle and Cobra pressed home the advantage with more tries, despite themselves having a player for 10 minutes in the sin bin.

But a last 12-minute blitz saw tries from prop Hywel Jones and Harry Jukes for the bonus point win. Williams also added a couple of conversions to the score.

Cobra now turn their attention to the North Wales Cup when they travel to Division 1 strugglers Ruthin before recommencing league duties away at Nant Conwy on November 26.
