19/11/2016 @ 08:34
The fundraising efforts of ‘Friends of Llanfair Caereinion Primary School’ has resulted in  £13,000 being donated to the school this year.

The money has been raised following a series of highly successful fundraising events, led by a dedicated Committee and supported by the wider community.

The money has enabled the school to purchase four state of the art interactive boards along with other playground and classroom material

The next big fundraising event is the Christmas Bingo on Thursday, 8th December, 6.30pm in the School Hall. There will be fantastic prizes and a festive sign-a-long led by talented mother Nic Davies, who is a member of Castle Bells choir. She will lead a number of festive carols for everyone to join. Pupils will also perform under the direction of Teacher, Mrs Nia Ellis.

Ruth Bates, newly elected Chair of ‘Friends of the School’ said: “Fundraising for the School is an all year round job. We thank everyone for supporting these events.”

“It just shows that together we can raise a substantial amount of money, which in turn is used to purchase equipment that helps improve the educational experience for all pupils.

She added; “At a time of diminishing public funds, the support of parents and the wider community has never been so important.”

At the Friends AGM earlier this month the following committee was elected Chairperson: Ruth Bates; Vice Chairperson: Eleri Jones/Vicky Watkins; Secretary: Layla Long Vice Secretary: Kate Ward; Treasurer: Louise Thomas and Vice Treasurer: Beth Kin

The Committee thanked Diane Watkin and Kate Ward,  for their outstanding work as Chair and Secretary respectively over the last two years.
