Welshpool Ladies Hockey Club picked up three crucial points on Saturday to move into third spot as the North Wales League enters its Christmas break.
The pre-weekend storm left The Flash unplayable so their match with Ruthin was switched to Newtown and due to availability problems both sides started with 10 players.
After an end-to-end opening, it was the visitors who took the lead but Welshpool struck back when Nia Jones found Rhian Davies who finished well to make it 1-1.
Welshpool pushed for the win and a second goal came through Sarah Thomas. Ruthin tried hard for an equaliser but Welshpool’s defence held firm to secure the vital win.
