Welshpool Town Council is to rename the Day Centre near Welshpool Hospital in honour of the late Ann Holloway who recently passed away.
The soon-to-be-rebranded ‘Ann Holloway Centre’ was a popular place to visit for Cllr Holloway who supported the Town Council’s decision to adopt the service from Powys County Council.
The Town Council said that the main entrance and entrance hall is due to be redecorated soon and at that time the signage will change to the new name and image.
The Centre provides day care for those who need support between 9am-4pm weekdays. The centre has recently seen its main room redecorated and a new conservatory added to enhance facilities.
“Care is provided by trained staff who are always prepared to ‘go the extra mile’ to ensure that all those who attend have a great experience,” said a Town Council spokesperson.
“There are about 24 clients most days with a reduced number on Fridays which is a special day for those with dementia. There is a range of activities on offer with lunch cooked in the kitchens on site to a very high standard.”
The Council also operates a Meals on Wheels service from the centre as well.
