Welshpool secured an important away win at Flint, where they have been undone so often before, to push themselves into Top 4 contention in Division 2 North East.

In a close-fought encounter, Welshpool were narrow victors through tries from Ryan Manuel and Ryan Goodwin, with two conversions and two penalties from Tom Williams.

Next up for Welshpool is a 4th v 5th clash with unbeaten Llangollen, with a win being vital for both sides. Kick-off 2.30pm.

Welshpool: Ryan Manuel, Ally Evans, Tom Manuel, Sam Ward, Ben Gutteridge, Tomos Holloway, Lee Richards, Ryan Goodwin, Joe Stranks, Dylan Walton, Rhys Williams, Tom Davies, Tom Worthy, Paul Davies, Tom Williams

Replacements: Joey Haycock, Jamie Evans, Dan Stanley, Harry Trow, Rob Picken

Meanwhile, Welshpool's Youths made the long journey to South Wales to take on Pontypool United in the Welsh Youth Bowl, and were only undone in the second half as the United replacements made their presence felt to take a 34-11 win.

Playing on the famous Pontypool Park, Welshpool only trailed 14-11 at the interval, but faded away in the second half due to a shortage of replacements. The players all gave it their all, and represented the club well. This weekend, they take on local rivals COBRA in a 2pm kick-off in Meifod.
