Crowds flock to see the hunt

They may be calling for today’s traditional Boxing Day hunts to be the last in Scotland but there was no hint of any unrest in Welshpool with one of the biggest ever turnouts lining the streets.

There was no hint of a protest as over 40 riders and the Tanatside Hunt pack left the Royal Oak for the annual Broad Street parade proving that in Mid Wales there is little support for the ban.

Supporters of fox hunting, who say they are expecting more than 250,000 people to turn out for Boxing Day events, have called for the scrapping of the Hunting Act, which forbids the hunting of animals such as foxes with dogs.

Montgomeryshire MP Glyn Davies has gone on record opposing the hunting ban and was one of over 1,000 people lining Broad Street today.
