An investigation has been launched into allegations which have seen the headteacher at Maesydre Primary School suspended.
Parents were shocked to receive a letter sent home with their children this evening (Tuesday) saying that Mrs Suzanne Foster had been “suspended from duty with immediate effect”.
And a Powys County Council spokesperson confirmed: “The Headteacher of Ysgol Maesydre has been suspended from duties pending investigation into allegations. Suspension is a neutral act which is taken in order to enable an investigation to take place. Interim measures have been put in place at the school."
Councillor Anne Holloway signed off the letter to parents as Chair of the School Governors and has urged parents not to discuss the issue with teachers while the investigation proceeds.
In it she wrote: “Allegations have been made against Mrs Suzanne Foster and the decision has been taken to suspend her from duty with immediate effect. This will allow investigations to be carried out into the allegations made against her.”
Ysgol Maesydre becomes the second school in the town to be left without a headteacher after Eirios Hall was suspended from Ardwyn School last year.
