Village recovering after burst mains chaos

13/01/2017 @ 09:31

A burst water main which flooded properties in Llanrhaeadr yesterday afternoon has been repaired.

Homes in the village were flooded as water escaped from the burst with residents describing Market Square as being like a river.

United Utilities, which owns the pipe, said the flooding was due to a burst on one of the pipes that carries water from Lake Vyrnwy to Oswestry. The water main was isolated by Severn Trent.

Crews from Mid and West Fire and Rescue service pumped out one property after the pipe burst and Powys County Council supplied sandbags to concerned residents.
