Police confirm vandalism probe

23/01/2017 @ 07:35

Following our story yesterday about cars being vandalised within 50 metres of their station, Welshpool Police have confirmed that they have opened an investigation.

We revealed that two cars had their windows smashed in an apparent robbery, with more damage caused to vehicles at the nearby railway station.

Last night the police confirmed: “Police in Welshpool are investigating after three cars were damaged overnight on Saturday. Windows were smashed on two cars in Howell Drive and another at the railway station, with the offender going through the glove box. It is not believed anything was taken.

“Officers are reminding people not to leave any valuables on display in their car. Anyone with any information is asked to call 101.”

A neighbour told us yesterday that the area close to the police station had become a crime hotspot with regular vandalism caused to cars parked there, including several belonging to senior citizens.
