There was a dramatic incident on Friday night when horse thieves were caught in the act by a brave owner who confronted them at 1.45am.
Fron Haul Equestrian tells us that the incident happened near to their fields in Trewern, but the person in question was a neighbour who they say is “understandably very shocked and upset”.
A spokesperson said: “At 1.45am two men attempted to steal a horse from a field in Trewern!
“Thank God the owner was alerted by her dogs barking. She rushed out to the field that was next to the house, and her horse was galloping around the field with two men with ropes!
“She shouted out to them and they fled the scene, leaving the gate wide open onto the main road.
“Unfortunately, due to it being so dark and happening so quickly the vehicles were not seen properly. There was a 4x4 and a small horse lorry parked further up the lane. Hay had been left by the gate and the padlock taken.
“The owner is understandably very shocked and upset at the moment. But we would be very grateful for any information anyone might have! Please be vigilant and remember they put hay down in corner of a field.”
If you have any information on this incident, call the police on 101. Remember, if you witness a robbery of this kind in progress call 999.
