Additional public information about the way the county’s local development plan is developed has been released by Powys County Council.

The council is entering the final stages of producing a local development plan to replace a previous unitary development plan, with a draft being examined by a planning inspector.

Cabinet Member for Planning, Councillor Tony Thomas said: “There has been some concern expressed by residents about the process needed to develop a plan so we have decided to publish a list of frequently asked questions that will provide a range of information on the subject.

“The council is committed to open and transparent government and is anxious to ensure that all residents have access to as much information as possible about a plan which could have a significant impact on their day-to-day lives.

“It is important that residents have access to all available information about the LDP process and in particular the ‘Further Focussed Changes’ which have attracted recent attention.” Powys is not alone in this process as other authorities including Gwynedd, Anglesey and Vale of Glamorgan have also been asked to identify local search areas and they are at a more advanced stage than Powys.

“We hope the public find the question and answers useful and satisfy their demand for more information on the process,” he added.
