Welshpool Ladies Hockey Club clinched a crucial 2-1 win over relegation battlers Ruthin at the weekend, confirming their third place finish for the season in the North Wales League.
With Ruthin propping up the table, Welshpool knew they would be in for a tough game and from the off it was clear that both teams were fighting for the points.
But it was Welshpool that grabbed the spoils thanks to goals from Sarah Thomas and Sarah Williams.
In the second half Ruthin came out fighting and pulled one back, but a solid Welshpool defence saw out the final whistle to gain three important points.
Next up are Colwyn Bay, who beat previously unbeaten champions Dysynni on Saturday, for their final match of the season.
