There is always one bad egg!

There’s always someone that spoils a good thing… but stealing from a nine-year-old is surely a red line?

However, that’s what has happened to young Tomos Davies, formerly of Forden but now living near Tregynon, who has been learning about economics through running his own little enterprise.

Unfortunately, he has also learned the hard way about how callous some people can be.

“Tomos has had his chickens for just over a year now and he sells the eggs using an honesty box at the end of lane,” said his mum Sharon, who runs the local Dolly Mixtures Running Group. “Unfortunately, someone has taken the eggs without paying for them. At least two boxes have been taken which is about half of what his 12 chickens produce a week.

“This is our son’s little enterprise, so they are stealing from a nine-year-old! We are trying to teach him basic economics and so he buys the chicken feed back out of the money he collects so he understands how much profit he has made.

“He has recently bought five cade lambs as another enterprise. He has saved all the money he has made so far to buy a new bike for himself in the future.”

If the person who took the eggs without paying is reading this… you can redeem yourself by doing the right thing.
