Welshpool Livestock Sales report a flying trade at the March store cattle fair on Tuesday.
Buyers from far and wide, including regular and new buyers, helped to keep a solid and strong trade throughout the sale. Bunched of cattle sold exceptionally well. Steers averaged 230.56ppkg or £990.05 per head and heifers averaged 221.25ppkg or £906.73.

CULL SHEEP (1580)
Slightly bigger show of culls this week averaging £59 for ewes and £80 for rams. Topping the ewe section was DTA Williams, Upper Bolbro, making £138. W T Davies, Canllefaes Uchaf, presented ewes to £131. Rams topped at £123 also from W T Davies. A T Edwards, Glanaber, presented a ram making £113.
STORE LAMBS (195)
Smaller entry of stores sold to a top of £59 for mule tup lambs from A T Edwards, Glanaber. Mixed and clean lambs topped at £58.50 for texel x lambs from L S Philpott & Son, Birch Tree Cottage.
Theave Lambs (33) averaged £24.70.
Mixed and clean lambs (100) averaged £36.75.
Wether lambs (16) averaged £40.75.
Tup lambs (46) averaged £49.23.
Cade Lambs - An entry of 110 cade lambs this week topping at £30 averaging £11.94.
COUPLES
An entry of 77 couples with the vast majority being single lambs met with a buoyant trade that peaked at £180 for 3 Texel x 2 and 3 year old ewes with twin lambs at foot from DTM Jones, Minffordd. Further twins from the same home sold for £178, £175 and £170 respectively, with the whole run averaging £59/life. JM & EM Jones, Penrhyn Farm, sold 4 Texel as found ewes with big strong single lambs for £140. Ryan Morris, Maestanyglwyden, sold a 2 year old Texel x ewe with a single lamb for £138.
M C Davies, Knolls farm, sold 5 Texel x 3 and 4 year olds with 9 lambs for £135.
Best single traded between £80 - £100.
