OTMS (62)
A show of 52 cows to average 96ppkg 1 bull sold to 109ppkg, 8 heifers under 48 months averaged 109ppkg and steers under 48 months to average 91ppkg. E H Pennie & Son Gwernychain sold to two Charolais cows one weighing 928kg to £1160 and another weighing 920kg to £1094.80. GM & PE Jones & Son Maesderw sold two Friesian cows to £983.88 and £876.72. J H H Jerman & Co Wernddu presented a Friesian heifer to £835 per head. D R Owen & Sons Sandilands presented a Charolais Bull weighing 1092kg to a £1190.28. E H Pennie & Son Gwernychain receives the Briarwood Products Ltd prize of £25 for the highest price cow sold on the day.
FAT CATTLE (30)
A good entry of 30 fat cattle presented for sale. S M Rowlands Dolwen presented two fat steers to 184ppkg and 183ppkg bought by M J Birtwistle & Co and Rikki Lloyd respectively. GW & BA Haynes Trefnant Isaf presented three heifers to 195ppkg bought by Rikki Lloyd and 181ppkg and 173ppkg was paid by M J Birtwistle & Co. D R Owen & Sons Sandilands presented two fat steers to 181ppkg and 170ppkg and 178ppkg and 169ppkg was achieved for two heifers. T & B Williams Cilmawr presented four heifers to 183ppkg, 168ppkg and 169ppkg on two occasions. GW & BA Haynes receives the Brairwood Products Ltd prize of £25 for the highest ppkg animal sold on the day. More Fat cattle needed to meet a very strong demand. An entry of 4268 prime hoggets, selling to an average of 179.5ppkg.
Super Lights (51) to 163ppkg from C J Davies & Son Waengwyn. Other to 158ppkg from E LA & RM Williams Llanllwyda. Average of 150.9ppkg.
Lights (399) to 185ppkg from DB & EFJ Gethin Dolyrhoel. Others to 182ppkg from DG & SA Rees & Sons Castell y Geifr. Average of 170.78ppkg.
Standards (789) to 217ppkg from W E Hyde The Furlong. Others to 216ppkg from M J Williams Pontyperson. Average of 177.54ppkg.
Mediums (1999) to 205ppkg from CJ & LM Daives Lawns Farm and James Edwards Mount Farm. Others to 204ppkg from SJ Smith Penybryn. Average of 181.36ppkg.

CULL EWE (1730)
A reduced number of cull ewes than of recent weeks, but sold well to average £55.94 per head for the ewes and £65.02 for the rams. S J Smith Penybryn presented cull ewes to a top market prize of £123 per head. G E Powell Cwmfeardy presented cull ewes to £109 per head. J Parry Esgairweddon presented cull rams to £119 per head.
STORE EWES & STORE LAMBS (639)
A reduced entry of 333 store lambs selling to a much sharper trade, selling to an average of £45.89. Suffolk mixed and clean lambs topped the sale at £62.50 from S Vogel Lower Tynycefn Dutlas. Tup lambs followed closely behind at £61.20 from C Davies Cwmariog Dutlas. Charolais theave lambs reached £57.80 from P Andrews Lower Fachwen Tregynon. Texel mixed and tup lambs made £56.50 from EW & EG Griffiths Gilfach Carno. Demand for store lambs remains constant as shown by a large amount of potential purchasers at the ringside. Sale of store lambs to commence at 10.30am next week.
IN LAMBS
A special sale of in lamb ewes met a steady trade with fodder costs and weather conditions limiting demand. All sheep forward were sold to a top price of £128 and £126 for yearling ewes from J Williams Coedtrefe who also two year old ewes to £120 and £112. Entry of 50 Beulah ewe next week with next collective sale of 400 ewes to be held on Monday 21st February 2011.
COWS & CALVES (10)
A catalogue entry of 8 cows and calves. D P Evans Moelygarth presented three cows and calves, a Limousin cow, Blonde D’aquataine cow and a Saler cow all with bull calves and achieved £1330, £1300 and £1100 respectively. T S Morgan Glanhafon Fach presented two British Blue cows with bull calves at foot to £1070 and £910 and two British Blue cows with heifer calves at foot to £1040 and £820. Manor Farming Company presented a British Blue cow with twin Hereford Bull calves at foot to £910. H W Johnson Moelfrochas presented two Simmental in calf cows and achieved £950.
