It’s a story with, thankfully, a happy ending!
Two walkers rescued a distraught lamb over the weekend which had slipped into the canal near town.
Gary Williams from Welshpool, and his friend Gwynfi Hodges from London, were enjoying the lovely Easter weather when they heard the distressful bleats.
They noticed an exhausted lamb with its head above water on the opposite side of the canal so they sprung into immediate action.
“The bank was too steep and the lamb was very tired and very wet,” said Sue Williams, who was walking with the pair.
“Gary and Gwynfi crossed the canal at the nearest bridge and managed to lift the lamb out and reunite it with its mother.”
But with typical Welshpool humour she added: “Much to the disappointment of those of us watching, neither fell in!”
