Dyfed Powys Police will co-fund major improvements to Welshpool’s CCTV system it has been announced.
Town Clerk Robert Robinson told the Town Council’s annual meeting that he had confirmation that Dafydd Llywelyn, the force’s Police and Crime Commissioner, would back the scheme with match-funding.
Mr Robinson said that the current system cost the council £5,250 per year to operate. He said the Commissioner would fund improvements which would involve a new digital system housed at the town’s Police Station and additional cameras.
He said he estimated costs going forward of £6,000 per year.
