It’s been a tough 2017 so far for six-year-old Kaleb.

The youngster has been in and out of hospital due to epilepsy over the past six months at various times of the day and night because of frightening seizures.

To make matters worse for the family, his little sister Amelia has also been going through her share of health problems but again the heroes from the Wales Ambulance Service have been called upon to ensure their safe passage to hospitals across the border.

But rather than feel sorry for himself, young Kaleb has decided that he wants to give back, knowing that his condition means he will be relying on their help in the future.

“Kaleb has been through so much, but he wanted to show the amazing ambulance service just how grateful we all are,” said his mum, Tammy Owen.

“I have had to use their services for my two children on numerous occasions so this will be our family’s way of saying thank-you.”

“The latest incident where they came to Kaleb’s aid was on May 15 when he fell into a state of unconsciousness for 20 minutes after having the worst seizure to date. It meant he was hospitalized and suffered another eight seizures in less than 12 hours.

“Kaleb is a lively little boy and is grateful to the paramedics and hospital staff for the care he received. He even wants to become an Ambulance driver when he is older in the hope he can care for others as they have for him.”

The brave youngster has set himself a target of £200 to raise through a sponsored bike ride/walk from the family home in town to Powis Castle on July 2 at 11am.

“He has already managed to raise £135 which is wonderful so we are hoping he can make it to his target before we do the event.

“I am truly grateful for the quick response times and fast thinking of the fantastic paramedics because without them, situations could have got a lot worse very quickly.

“So if you would like to help support my children in saying thank-you and help raise money to keep our amazing services running then please donate.”
