Careers Festival chance for employers

15/06/2017 @ 03:50

Employers who would like to attend the 2018 Powys Careers Festival are being invited to get in touch with the organisers.

The inaugural event at Llanelwedd in March attracted some 2,500 school pupils and saw a range of employers and educational establishments offering advice to young people on what opportunities are on offer after school or further education.

Now, the multi-agency Positive Pathways Powys group is inviting more employers or educational establishments to get in touch.  Attendance at the event on March 7, 2018 is free to exhibitors and students/pupils alike; however a limited number of sponsorship opportunities for exhibitors will shortly be announced.

Jackie Parker is Chair of the partnership – and is also Headteacher at Crickhowell. She commented: “If you’d like to discuss attending the event next year, we’d love to hear from you.  Our first year went really well but we want to make 2018 even bigger and better and offer the young people of Powys an even wider range of opportunities. We want to give them world-class information so that they are fully prepared and aware of the opportunities out there when they leave school or college.”

This year the event was open to Year 10 and 12 pupils from Powys schools as well as students from NPTC colleges based in the county. In 2018, the event will be opened up to Year 9 pupils as well and will be in two halls, instead of one.

Potential exhibitors wishing to discuss the 2018 event should contact Jayne Bevan on 01597 82 6695 or by emailing jayne.bevan@powys.gov.uk

The Positive Pathways Powys group is made up of Powys County Council, secondary schools in Powys, Careers Wales, Cambrian Training, the NPTC Group of Colleges and the Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations. More information at https://www.facebook.com/PositivepathwaysPowys/
