A young pupil has had his picture of Welshpool railway station featured on thousands of hessian shopping bags after winning a design competition run by the town’s Tesco store.
Jack Roberts, eight, of Buttington Trewern County Primary School, also won £500 for his school and a £25 Tesco gift card for himself.
His beautifully detailed image of Welshpool railway station has been transferred onto thousands of limited edition hessian bags which are being given away free in the Tesco store on Smithfield Road.
The competition was organised by Tesco as part of its commitment to encourage community involvement. Pupils across Welshpool were asked to draw a picture to celebrate their love for the town.
Linda Ruscoe, store manager said: “The competition was a great way for us to engage with the local community and encourage children to think about what they love about Welshpool. Although our main focus is serving our customers and enhancing their shopping experience we are also always keen to support our community.
“The response for the competition was fantastic and we have had lots of great entries but when we came to choose a winner Jack’s picture really stood out.”
