The great escape story of Jack Marsden

25/07/2017 @ 08:48

The incredible story of a war hero will be told by his daughter in Welshpool next month to raise money for the popular 1940s Weekend.

Janet Marsden is the daughter of Jack Marsden who endured a dramatic experience in World War II that included being shot in the head and captured but then liberated in a daring rescue that involved a bicycle.

Janet recalls the whole story through a PowerPoint presentation along with maps, souvenirs and other memorabilia collected over the years. It’s a story that’s as gripping in its telling now as it was 73 years ago when her father was repatriated.

The event takes place at the Town Hall on August 18, from 7pm. The £6 admission includes refreshments.

Advance tickets are available from Welshpool Jewellers with proceeds going to the Welshpool 1940s Weekend and Bomber Command Memorial.
