Cricketing team mates pay tribute to "Jimmy"

Team mates of James Corfield paid tribute to their teenage colleague with a minute’s applause yesterday before playing the first game since his death.

Before the match against Alberbury, members of Montgomery Cricket Club hugged each other for support wearing blue armbands decorated with a blue heart and James’ nickname ‘Jimmy’.

The young man’s body was recovered from the River Wye near the Royal Welsh Showground last week after a five-day search.

James had been camping at the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells when his family raised the alarm after he failed to meet them the next day.

James was a keen cricketer and a gifted player. He was recently awarded Shropshire Division 2 Cricketer of the Year, and the league's young player of the year in 2016.
