Rarely does a week go by without young Kaleb requiring the lifesaving help from our local ambulance service.

The six-year-old has had a challenging start in life, and has been in and out of hospital over the past eight months at various times of the day and night because of frightening seizures due to epilepsy.

But thanks to the incredible efforts and professionalism of the local paramedics that have come to his aid, Kaleb has bounced back every single time.

And he wanted to show his appreciation to those that have supported him by organising a fundraiser to give back.

“He held a bike ride from town to Powis Castle to show what those people who help him mean to him,” said his mum, Tammy Owen. “We just can’t thank them enough. They have saved his life on several occasions.”

Such is Kaleb’s condition, seizures can happen at any time of day or night, and he ended up in hospital after suffering one on the same evening of the bike ride, which raised a tremendous £560 for the Welsh Ambulance Service.

“It wasn’t the end of the day that we had wanted but we are all, as a family, so proud of him,” said Tammy. “He is going through so much and continues to have seizures, but is still such a cheerful and happy boy. He has got a long road ahead of him to get better but he is our little warrior.

“He has made friends with two very special paramedics - father and son, Steve and Nathan Davies - who have been out to Kaleb on a few occasions.

“They are brilliant with him like all the paramedics are and they all make him feel safe and comfortable. They put him at ease when he’s alert.

“I can’t thank them enough for what they do for my brave little man. They are the real heroes in this world.”

The family would also like to thank Flaunt It for donating balloons for the children and Marrisons for providing refreshment at the end of the ride.
