Montgomery is preparing for a busy autumn with a series of exciting events for both visitors and local residents.
The events begin on September 23 with harp workshops for beginners and more experienced players from 10am-3.30pm with Amanda Munday and Robin Huw Bowen. Harps will be provided for beginners.
In the evening, at 7.30pm, a Baroque Concert will be held in Montgomery Town Hall starring Severn Baroque and a guest appearance by Robin, a legendary triple harp virtuoso. Tickets cost £9 or £7 for under 18s.
To coincide with Montgomery’s first Walking Festival, Monty’s Brewery, the town’s multiple award-winning brewery, is holding its first Oktoberfest on Friday, October 6 at The Cottage Brewery Visitor Centre on Forden Road between 5pm-10pm. Beer, sauerkraut, locally sourced sausages, gins, ciders and much more will be on offer.
The Walking Festival, on the theme of historic landscapes, is being held from October 6-8 with seven varied walks from four to 22 miles. There is no charge for the walks but booking is essential. Several walks are nearly fully booked so check www.MontgomeryWalkingFestival.co.uk for details and also for a reduced rate for a Supper and Singers event for walkers on Saturday, October 7 in Montgomery Town Hall at 7.30pm.
The supper will include a two-course homemade supper and a concert with the Guilsfield Singers. Tickets cost £12 from Vivien on Tel: 01686 668603 and proceeds will go to CPRW Montgomeryshire.
