Mystery over midnight helicopter

Social media was abuzz with speculation this morning as to why a helicopter was flying over Welshpool roof tops last night.

Residents took to Twitter and Facebook to complain that the helicopter was keeping them up as midnight approached, with some reporting that there may have been two choppers airborne over the town at one point.

Rumours started to spread that there was a manhunt taking place but the police told us this morning that they have no idea what was going on either.

The Dyfed-Powys Police press office said that the incident “doesn’t seem to be anything to do with us” and added: “We’ve double-checked with officers locally and they are not aware of any incident last night that would have required a police helicopter.”
