A well known Mid Wales professional golfer has narrowly avoided jail after admitting harassing his former partner.

Andrew James Humphreys, the 33 year old head professional at Aberdovey Golf Club appeared at Caernarfon Magistrates Court charged with constanlly harassing Machynlleth GP Sara Bradbury-Willis, the Cambrian News reports.

Humphreys bombarded Dr Bradbury-Willis with thousands of unsolicited messages and phone calls over a six-month period even after she pleaded with him to stop.

Humphreys, now of 12 Penhelyg, Aberdovey, a former professional at both Llanymynech and Lakeside Golf Clubs, admitted harassment in Caernarfon Magistrates Court on 23 October and was handed a suspended six-week prison sentence, ordered to complete rehabilitation sessions, given a lengthy five-year restraining order and ordered to pay £1,000 in compensation.
